I followed this around Dalaran for a good five minutes while waiting for my Headless Horseman queue to pop.
Random shadows walking about?
Don’t shadows usually have critters between them and the sun?
Things that make you go Hmmmm.

It looks like someone flying over Dalaran on a nether ray.
That was my first thought as well, but there was no one overhead that I could see, and it also had a very defined pat, including going partially through one wall.
it is in Dalaran patting between the fountain outside the barber shop most of the way down towards the entrance to the Horde area.
Checked on two different computers, accounts, and servers and it’s the same on both.
My guess is that it has something to do with the pathing NPCs in Dalaran, especially if you are seeing it travel at walking speed.
Since the patch, I’ve noticed that some of the city’s NPCs have messed up paths. I’ve seen the draenei shaman and the orc hunter (both female) walk ON the Legerdemain’s bar. They did not do that before. The shadow could be coming from the orc’s misplaced warp stalker pet.
Makes perfect sense to me. I was kinda thinking it looked like a crocolisk or similarly shaped critter.
Interesting. I saw a similarly mis-placed shadow. Inside the (ummm – either the Inn or the Bank) in Gadgetzan. No screenshot, but the shadow was pathing around the inside of the room, as if the caster were walking along the top of the walls. Very odd!
Hm, those B-2 Spirits I ordered for the Sunreaver Air Command to reduce Alliance fortifications must have come in early.
